REM dream

REM dream
The acronym REM dream stands for rapid eye movement dream. It is used to denote a " dream occurring during REM sleep. Dreams may also occur during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, but this is believed to happen less frequently. Physiologically, REM dreams are associated primarily with increased neurophysiologi-cal activity in specialized sensory cortical areas, in the limbic cortex, the pedunculus cerebri, and the thalamus.
