total hallucination

total hallucination
A term used in thanatology to denote a type of " deathbed vision in which the whole sensory environment is replaced by hallucinatory images, much like " scenic or panoramic hallucinations. The parapsychologists Karlis Osis (1917-1997) and Erlendur Haraldsson (b. 1931) use the term total hallucination in cases where the dying individual "is either no longer aware of his surroundings or else speaks as if he were in two worlds at once." When total hallucinations are accompanied by a compelling sense of objectivity, they are said to have a high degree of " xenopathy.
