- propagated hallucination
- The term propagated hallucination is indebted to the Latin verb propagare, which means to transmit, to spread. It is used as a generic term for hallucinations that are attributed to the propagation of aberrant activity from one CNS structure to another. A classic example of this phenomenon is *reperception, in which aberrant activity in the hippocampus or some other lim-bic structure is believed to spread towards sensory cortical areas, and to thus mediate a hallucination involving the re-enactment of a past experience.Referencesffytche, D.H.
