sensory distortion

sensory distortion
   Also known as perceptual distortion. Both terms are used to denote a change in the intensity, quality, or spatial form of sense perceptions. In Fish's Clinical Psychopathology the notion of sensory distortion is used in opposition to * sensory deception (which comprises hallucinations and *illusions). Both groups ofphenomena are classified as * perceptual disturbances.
