Also known as
hallucinatory state and
hallucinatory predisposition. The French term
disposition hallucinative is indebted to the Latin noun
dispositio, which means arrangement or natural tendency. It was employed, and possibly introduced, by the French physician Pierre Dheur to denote an individual's ability or propensity to hallucinate. As Dheur argues, one's hallucinatory disposition is a given, involuntary property, whereas hallucinations themselves may in some cases be summoned up voluntarily (hence his use of the term * voluntary hallucination).
